ABSTRACT
There are two translation strategies in translation: one is the faithful translation of the source language and culture, and the other is the domestication translation in line with the target language and culture. Based on Antoine Behrman’s 12 transfiguration tendencies, this paper discusses and analyzes Zhang Guruo’s naturalized translation of Tess of the D’Urbervilles in terms of language and culture.

Keywords: naturalization; twelve deforming tendencies; Literary translation; novel
